Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this symposium, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the latest treatment paradigms for hepatitis B and C
- Review the most recent data on the diagnosis and management of metabolic liver diseases to include nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), Wilson’s disease and hereditary hemochromatosis
- Describe management strategies for autoimmune hepatitis
- Become familiar with specific challenges and controversies found with endoscopy in patients with end stage liver disease
- Discuss specific diseases that are associated with abnormal liver function tests but are not routinely tested for
- Become familiar with new and novel therapies for HCV
- Describe appropriate evaluation and management strategies for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
- Understand the importance of HBV viral DNA levels and when to consider switching or adding therapy
